Every fourth Resource of the Week this year will highlight a top-quality Premium resource for sale on TES that has been created by a teacher.
What is it?
Recently I put together a collection of my favourite Pythagoras and Trigonometry resources available on TES. It reminded me just how much a fan I am of that first Pythagoras lesson that students experience. It is such an opportunity to allow them to discover one of our subject’s greatest theorems. And of course, there will be people (both teachers and students) who say “why do they need to discover something we already know?” – but without the experience of discovering something and feeling that success, how will we ever have the motivation and techniques to discover anything new? Anyway – rant over. So, in years past I have used Perigal’s dissection, but now I have a new way, via this lovely, engaging, well-structured resource.
How can it be used?
The resource comes complete with instructions suggesting very clearly how it could be run. There is enough content here for one full lesson of discovery, and the approach is sufficiently low-barrier to enable all students to make some progress, and yet as soon as we starting asking “why is this true?”, we have something that would challenging the most able. And if that wasn’t enough, there is also a second lesson, jam-packed with routine and non-routine questions, complete with full written solutions. Your students’’ journey into the wonderful world of Pythagoras will be off to a flyer with this resource.
Thanks for sharing!
