So, with today’s Edexcel GCSE Maths Higher Non Calculator paper officially out in the open (I thought it was a fair paper), our attention now turns to the Calculator paper in two weeks time (9th June).
For many years there has been a tradition in schools to create a predicted calculator paper, filled with the banker calculator topics (trigonometry, mean from a frequency table, etc), combined with topics that did not come up on the Non Calculator paper. This is by no means an exact science, but I certainly have found these predicted Calculator GCSE papers to be a useful revision aid for students in the build up to the final exam. They can help students focus on the topics that matter.
So, with that in mind, it gives me great pleasure to present the Diagnositc Questions version of the Predicted Calculator Paper, also known as… wait for it…The Prediculator!
This is a quiz made up of 20 questions, together with 20 Supporting Quizzes.
My advice is to use it as follows:
1. Assign the Prediculator to your students for over half term
2. Encourage them to review their answers and read other students’ explanations as usual
3. Try the Supporting Quizzes for any question they got wrong.
You can obviously also monitor their results on Diagnostic Questions to enable you to focus their revision in those final precious few days after the holidays.
I hope you and your students find the Prediculator useful.
