I am not very spatially aware, which is why I need all the help I can get when attempting to teach certain topics. Sketching objects in 3D is a particular area of weakness for me (my interpretation of a square-based pyramid more closely resembles a one year old’s attempt to draw a tree), so imagine my delight when I came across this resource from Dan Walker.

This beautifully presented PowerPoint not only looks and how to represent 3D solids on isometric paper, but also covers the areas of nets, plans and elevations, technical drawing, prisms, and pretty much anything else you can think of. My spatial needs were well and truly met.

I would recommend choosing the bits of the PowerPoint that you like the look of, editing where necessary, and then building them into your own lesson. This resource has certainly saved me lots of time, and allowed me to visualise things that otherwise would certainly have been a struggle!
